My name is Chinelo Meka, and I am a Texas-based portrait artist working primarily with watercolor, as well as various dry media and ceramics. My current body of work explores the beauty of women from diverse ethnic backgrounds by intertwining their hair with elements of historical architecture.
Inspired by Baroque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles, my art reflects a deep interest in the relationship between identity, culture, and design. Through a blend of realism and abstraction, I strive to highlight the elegance and complexity of diverse forms and histories.
In addition to this work, I have a strong passion for creating abstract drawings, expressive paintings, and portraits that celebrate individuality and emotion. I also plan to become an art teacher, with the goal of inspiring and nurturing creativity in future generations.
